James Lester Ledington

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. — James Lester Ledington, 94 of Hamilton, Ohio passed away at Golden Years Health Care on Friday, Aug. 27, 2010, at 2:07 p.m.

He was born in Laurel County, Ky., Aug. 30, 1915 the son of John and Nannie (Weaver) Ledington. He was a veteran of the United States Army during World War II from 1943 to 1945. He was employed as a crane operator at Fisher Body for 25 years, retiring in 1979. Ledington was a member of the Talawanda Baptist Church and was an avid hunter, fisherman, and craftsman.

On Nov. 12, 1938 in Covington, Ky. he was married to Inez Mullins and she preceded him in death in 2000.

He is survived by his nieces, Nevada Cox of Hamilton, Ohio and Ruth Provence of Jonesville, Va.; two nephews, David Cox of Hamilton, Ohio and Fred Ledington of Connersville, Ind.; two special friends, Jim Edwards of Dayton, Ohio and Jim Roark of Oxford, Ohio; and many other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; seven brothers, Charlie, Chester, Homer, Virgil, Arthur, Clyde, Elmer, and two sisters, Verlie Cobb and Robin Ledington.

Funeral service was at Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, Hamilton, Ohio on Tuesday, Aug. 31, at 1 p.m. with Rev. Timothy Suter officiating.

Burial followed in Butler County Memorial Park.
